Greetings, Evildoers.

Well hey there! I'm Jen Silverman, I'm a comic art major at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and I like making stuff. Pretty stuff. Because really, who doesn't like stuff?

VICTORY!

I know it’s been a bit quiet on my little corner of the interwebs lately, but that’s because I was working on this- my senior project for college.  And guess what?  IT’S FINALLY DONE.  YAAAAAAAAAAY!  I’ve just finished cleaning up the pages and they’re all ready to be scanned, printed and turned into a complete 16 page minicomic.

I’m so excited to share this with everyone, and I’ll have more to show of it very soon!

It’s been long enough since I sent out contest winner Amanda’s prize package that she should have received it by now, so I won’t be spoiling the surprise by posting the doodle she requested.  Corgi in rainboots.  Heck yeah.

Here is a quick look at my next big project that will be debuting at TCAF this year!

Engaging with the Disnified concept of the Fairy Tale Princess, one who waits and is, in turn, rewarded for her passivity, the narrative’s primary purpose is to show female agency in a fun and whimsical tale where a young girl takes a cross-country journey to find the mythical Library of Congress. “The Little Girl in Blue” is 16 page self-contained graphite and watercolor comic, the primary goal of which is to offer an alternative from the Disney fairy tale heroine, give readers an active, resourceful, girl who young girls can admire.

Hope y’all like it!

So Mandie is being friggin’ awesome right now and you should get hype about this.  Just sayin’.

Those freaking watercolors Mandie you crazy woman AAAAHHHHHHHH

Crosshatching is happening.  Wrist explosion imminent.  Defeat not an option.  VICTORY SHALL BE MINE.

Dug out my acrylic inks to make my Bubbe a birthday card.  I haven’t used them in a while and honestly forgot how fun they are.  :)

This might become a sticker.  It looks like it should be a sticker.  Sticker?  …Yeah, sticker.

And in case you’re wondering, I made this because I needed a refresher on using Illustrator and I apparently use this phrase too much.

I’m kind of diggin’ the whole using circuit board as canvas thing.  I might need to keep making these…

Witch Week!  Yay!

I went on the assumption that I’d be about as graceful a witch as I am a person (which is to say, not at all) and that Gallifrey would be a pretty shit familiar.  I think the two of us will just stick to our day jobs.

Oh hey, I forgot to update after my previous terror at the thought of ruining my lovingly penciled comic- I DID THE THING!  And actually, the panel that was freaking me out the most turned out better than the rest of the comic.  I think I’ll print out some bluelines and re-ink the whole thing, but I’m still rather fond of this panel so I thought I’d share.  :)
