Greetings, Evildoers.

Well hey there! I'm Jen Silverman, I'm a comic art major at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and I like making stuff. Pretty stuff. Because really, who doesn't like stuff?

Here it is- the first three pages of my new comic, A Can of Nothing! If you want to know what happens next, I’ll be printing and assembling books this week. Copies will be available for sale at this year’s Springcon, where I’ll be tabling once again with the lovely Leigh Luna. I’m also working on setting up a web store, so I’ll have some available for the non-Minnesotans soon too!

VICTORY!

I know it’s been a bit quiet on my little corner of the interwebs lately, but that’s because I was working on this- my senior project for college. And guess what? IT’S FINALLY DONE. YAAAAAAAAAAY! I’ve just finished cleaning up the pages and they’re all ready to be scanned, printed and turned into a complete 16 page minicomic.

I’m so excited to share this with everyone, and I’ll have more to show of it very soon!

It’s been long enough since I sent out contest winner Amanda’s prize package that she should have received it by now, so I won’t be spoiling the surprise by posting the doodle she requested. Corgi in rainboots. Heck yeah.

Here is a quick look at my next big project that will be debuting at TCAF this year!

Engaging with the Disnified concept of the Fairy Tale Princess, one who waits and is, in turn, rewarded for her passivity, the narrative’s primary purpose is to show female agency in a fun and whimsical tale where a young girl takes a cross-country journey to find the mythical Library of Congress. “The Little Girl in Blue” is 16 page self-contained graphite and watercolor comic, the primary goal of which is to offer an alternative from the Disney fairy tale heroine, give readers an active, resourceful, girl who young girls can admire.

Hope y’all like it!

So Mandie is being friggin’ awesome right now and you should get hype about this. Just sayin’.

Those freaking watercolors Mandie you crazy woman AAAAHHHHHHHH

Psst. Guess who has a fancy-shmancy new website? It just went live yesterday, so if any of you lovelies would be willing to poke around it and give me some feedback on what’s working and what could use some improvement, that’d be freakin’ awesome of you. <3

Dug out my acrylic inks to make my Bubbe a birthday card. I haven’t used them in a while and honestly forgot how fun they are. :)

TOSKA AND RUM - SET LAUNCH DATE MARCH 27th!

Follow this comic here!!!

This project is a horror, occultist, and crime themed story set in modern day Chicago. This story follows Ariel Quintin, an emotionally impaired and self centered 26 year old bachelor in his recent employment as a bartender at “Soder,” a fairly low key bar in the center of urban Chicago. While Soder is not very well known, its customers are decent in number and frequency, however Soder has recently been the last known location for quite a few missing people. But you know, it’s just another day in Chicago, right? Except, when those missing do resurface, their hearts have been ripped from their bodies.

Ignorant of these rumors Ariel worries about his adjustment to his new workplace. Unfortunately, his first night shift proved to be a much more unnerving experience than he had expected. His co-workers and the occasional costumer plague his mind with passing comments of the missing people and pressured into investigating further. Upon his investigation he is lured into the basement of his workplace where he encounters a dark secret that his boss wants desperately kept unrevealed.
